From the pedler of chicken feathers for sugar in Yiwu to "YXE (Yiwu, Xinjiang, Spain)" CHINA RAILWAY Express departured from Yiwu, those facts make people profoundly realized that openness brings progress and closure is bound to lag behind.

Forty years ago, at the beginning of the reform and opening-up, Yiwu opened the door for the pedlers to go out and run business during the discussion of "Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth". For instance, there was more than 70 pairs of goods were lifted out in just one team Pingchou Commune, and more than 10,000 kilograms of chicken feathers were collected in about 20 days, which not only provided the country with 1 ton of chicken feathers for export, but also increased the income of pedlers.

On December 9th, 2014, the Ministry of Development of the Spanish Government and the Chinese Embassy in Spain held a grand ceremony to welcome the "YXE" CHINA RAILWAY Express from Yiwu, China. It spans more than 10,000 kilometers across eight Eurasian countries and developed a "new Silk Road" for exporting China's small commodities to Europe.

From the pedlers to YXE, it is not only the distance that matters to opening to the outside world, but also a major change in the content of shipment. The goods nowadays in the international freight train are not chicken feathers of those years, but covers daily commodities, clothing and bags, hardware tools and so on. According to the statistics, Yiwu Small Commodity City collects 28 categories of nearly 320,000 commodities, which are inexpensive and good in quality. More than 90% of these commodities are sold to all over the country and all over the world.
